Alan Dyson, born in Hull, now living in Teesdale, studied Fine Art and Sculpture at St. Martin's, London, Medway and Canterbury Colleges of Art and Goldsmiths', London.
His figurative landscapes concentrate on huge cloudscapes over moorland terrain. He uses abstract compositions to express the space of landscape seen from a great height.
